Only God is my rock

Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved. . . . My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defense; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah. Psalm 62:1-2, 5-8

Only God is my rock. Only God is my salvation. Not a man. Not a woman. Not a job. Not a career. Not money. Not success. Not achieved goals. Not a skill. Not a talent. Not property I own. Not my health. Not my muscles. Not my intelligence. Not my strength. Only God is my rock and my salvation.

If I put my trust in anything else, I am trusting in shaky ground; only God is solid. If I put my trust in anything else, I have made it an idol; God says, Thou shalt have no other gods before me. If I put my trust in anything else, I will be disappointed; only God is perfectly faithful and powerful and loving and unchanging and wise.

Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.

Only God is my rock.

Selah. It’s good to pause and think calmly on that.
