Sometimes we struggle to make the outside of us look clean and righteous and good, when what is inside is what we need to be repenting of and receiving cleansing from. The struggle is there because the inside does not agree with what we are trying to make the outside reflect. The thoughts of our hearts are what God sees. When the inside is clean, the outside will become clean, also. Going about it from the other direction results in disparity that is called hypocrisy. The inside won’t become clean as a result of the outside being clean. But the outside will become clean as a result of the inside being clean, for the thoughts of our heart come out naturally when we speak and act.
Let us turn our hearts and minds toward God and expel all wicked thoughts in the name of Jesus Christ. May our hearts be filled with gratitude and thanksgiving and love and peace and the joy of the Lord.
May Jesus cleanse us on the inside, that the outside may be clean also.
