Live in season.

If it’s a season of work, a day of work, an hour of work, a time to work, don’t rebel against the season, because the season won’t change until the appropriate time.  Instead, since you’re going to be there whether you like it or not, if you want to be happy, then do what is fitting in that season:  work.  Don’t complain, don’t wish you were doing something else.  Work wholeheartedly, and thank God for it.

If it’s a season of rest, a day of rest, an hour of rest, a time to rest, don’t rebel against the season, because the season won’t change until the appropriate time.  Instead, since you’re going to be there whether you like it or not, if you want to be happy, then do what is fitting in that season:  rest.  Don’t complain, don’t wish you were doing something else.  Rest wholeheartedly, and thank God for it.

When you are working, don’t wish you were resting.  When you are resting, don’t wish you were working.  When you are working, don’t keep an eye on the clock to keep track of how long you have left to work before you can rest.  Instead, work.  Enjoy working.  Don’t worry about how much time you have left.  And when you are resting, don’t keep an eye on the clock to keep track of how much longer before you have to work again.  Instead, rest.  Enjoy resting.  Don’t worry about how much time you have left.

Enjoy now, now.  Embrace the season.  Don’t wish it was another season, because that takes the joy out of this season, and this season is not going to go away for the wishing.  Every season has its beauty.  Embrace that beauty.

Do what is fitting.  Live in season.
